It’s holiday party season! If you’re like me, you’ll be going to a few Christmas parties this December and, of course, you need to make sure that you arrive in style! For work parties especially, I try to play it safe when it comes to what I wear. I’d rather not be the topic of office gossip because of a hemline that was way too high, a neckline that was way too low, or a dress that was way too tight. On the other hand, the risks I don’t take with my clothes, I like to take with my footwear.
I am already a big fan of velvet. Many of my pageant gowns have been velvet. I have velvet shoes, velvet cocktail dresses, velvet jewelry, even a velvet jumpsuit that I wore for the talent portion of a pageant I was in. Now, I have a pair of velvet pumps that I will be wearing for a few formal holiday parties.
Some of the parties that I’ll be going to are after-work functions. For those, I’ll wear whatever I happen to have worn to the office that day, which, sadly, will not involve velvet shoes. I will, however, be whipping out the gorgeous burgundy velvet pumps that I just bought from Aldo for a bargain price of under $50! Unfortunately, Aldo is sold out of the regular velvet pumps that I purchased, but they have a really similar velvet pump here that has a snakeskin pattern. I’m so obsessed with the snakeskin ones, I’m contemplating buying them, too.
The Stessy shoe from Aldo is a little snug in the toe box, so I’d recommend getting a half-size larger than what you would usually wear. Also below are a few other options of velvet pumps at different price points (click the price to shop). Send me a message if you’ve tried these and let me know what your experience was like!
